Story: In 2014, I sat on the subway and above me sat a stylish young man with pointy shoes and shoulders, reading his newspaper. At the time he would fit within the Hipster-definition, while today he would definetely have had a way to little set of a beard. It was late at night, and in the window I could make out the reflection of a figure, which was difficult to see if was human at all . The youg guy struck me as a type who preferred newspaper in print rather than online newspapers, but I wondered why he was reading the newspaper so late at night. I dont know why, but I felt an urge to capture the moment so I snuck a photo. It become a little dark painting later that night, with rough and quick strokes, and a much less detailed style than the way I normally work. It was all about capturing the moment. We were just a few on the subway and it was dark and a bit of tension in the air, in a way. The quite fascinating thing is that early the next morning I sat on the bus and the same person came on after a couple of stops and sat down right next to me (!!) Little did he know that the night before I had been painting him and his newspaper.
